December 2020: Sustainable Future I

One of the questions we have been asking ourselves the last few months is: “how can we make a larger impact and commitment to the Navajo people that we have grown to love so much?

We have been in this community for 2.5 years and have learned and grown so much. God has been faithful in leading us here and sustaining us thus far. We are confident that he has put us in a unique place to expand and grow our ministry in 2021.

2020 has been a hard year for all of us. But for many reasons, 2020 has been even harder for those living on the Reservation.

This reality has renewed and reinvigorated our calling to this community and our desire to see sustainability come to life here on the Reservation.

We believe that God is calling us to a deeper investment of our time, our energy, and our resources to our community.

For us to see that happen, we need your help! Our goal is to raise $10,000 between now and the end of the year.

For next few weeks, as we dive headfirst into 2021 – we will be sharing a bit about how we got here, where we have been, where we are now, and where we are going.

As you listen to our story and consider your end of year giving – we humbly invite you to join us financially as we look towards bringing sustainability to our work and to life on the Reservation.

You might already know this story, but as we look into the future – we know it’s important to remember where we have been…

Our family moved from the suburbs of Virginia to the area of Hidden Springs on the Navajo Reservation to make our home in a place that we fell in love with and to live in community with the people we’ve grown in relationship with over the past 20 years.

Bill first came to the Reservation on a high school mission trip when he was 18 years old. Since then, he’s committed to come to Arizona once or twice a year. As a student and as an associate pastor, Bill has always had a heart for the Navajo.

Grace’s first trip to Arizona was nineteen years ago. She had an immediate connection with the people on the Reservation and always looked forward to returning each summer and/or winter.

Each of our girls have been on at least one of the mission trips to Hidden Springs. Like us, they’ve found a love for the land and people of this area.

What started off as feelings of sadness each time we left the Reservation grew into a passion to move our family here. We packed up our things and headed west in July of 2018. We currently run various projects & programs on the Reservation – we will be telling you more about these in the coming weeks.

This Christmas season, we invite you to invest in God’s work here on the Reservation. As we look towards a sustainable future, our goal is to raise $10,000 between now and the end of the year.
