MARCH 2020
Happy March, friends! We are smack dab in the middle of a busy season {I feel like I always say that! It is what it is – haha…}
Bill and the girls are finishing up their 3rd quarter in school & I continue to substitute a few days a week when my schedule allows it. We’re ALL looking forward to Spring Break next week!
Espy is currently researching colleges {so weird} and is making plans to attend a digital arts camp in Hollywood this summer. Gianna is trying her hand at tennis and is on the JV team at her school. Isabella has started running track & her current events are the 4×100 & the 4×800. Evangeline just participated in the regional Odyssey of the Mind competition for her school. Their team got 2nd place & is heading to states in Tuscon at the end of the month.
We would love for you to {continue to} pray for our girls. Although they’ll soon be completing their second school year here in Arizona, we know that they continue to miss our friends + family in VA. We are thankful for all that God is teaching them and our greatest desire is for them to love Him & love others well. Life is not always easy – and as grownups, Bill & I (mostly) know that. It’s just hard for our hearts to see them homesick from time to time.
We’d also love prayer as we continue to develop + strengthen our relationships within our community. The effects of broken homes, alcoholism, drug use, etc. are a huge hindrance in building trust & breaking down walls among the kids. In a season of busyness, Bill + I can often find ourselves tired, frustrated, and impatient. Although we know these times will come & go, we’d appreciate your prayers as we push forward these next few weeks.
Last weekend – Bill took two of our girls & several kids from our area into Flagstaff to climb at a local bouldering gym, watch a movie, and have lunch together. We’re thankful for these times to connect!
We’re currently fundraising for a commercial playground for the kids, for the events that we coordinate, and for the groups that come out to work with the community.
The playground pictured below is normally over $16,000 & the company we are working with has graciously knocked the price down to $12,440 including shipping, taxes, and delivery.
We are SO close to reaching our goal of funding this playground COMPLETELY!
If you’d like to help, you can make your tax-deductible donation here. Thanks to everyone who has shared about our project and/or has contributed – you guys are THE best!!
We are having a Work Week on the property from April 13-22. As of right now, we have 5 amazing individuals + a wonderful family flying out from parts of Virginia & Alabama to labor with us.
WE COULD USE SOME MORE HELP!
We have three projects we are hoping to accomplish: install a playground, construct a pavilion, and build a small concrete dam to help local residents get access to spring water. Whether you’re local or far away, we’d love to have you consider joining us. We need a couple more skilled workers + a few willing helpers to get these projects done. You can come out for a few days, a week, or all 9 days. Contact us if you’re interested or would like to know more…
We also have two groups coming out for mission trips in June + July – we’re excited to host them both!
We’re happy to be heading to VA at the end of May to spend time with our family + friends! Please save the date for our Hidden Springs Mission Gathering at First Church Ministries in Newport News on Saturday, May 30th at 6:30pm. We can’t wait to see you there!
